LREY is known for its distinctive acoustic designs, but its latest flathead is something of an unusual departure. Instead of a custom wooden or brass housing, the new model uses the familiar standard MX500-style plastic shell.

WMX1 utilises a 32Ω custom graphene diaphragm driver and a fixed cable made from 6N silver-plated copper, with both 3.5mm and 4.4mm terminations available. LREY promises a W-shaped tuning with deep sub-bass, engaging vocals, extended treble and a spacious, highly layered presentation.

Another surprise is the price: just $65. Pre-orders are now open, making this one of the more budget-friendly ways to try LREY’s approach to flathead tuning.
