OAK Audio has just release it’s third model – the Nature S model also known as “Dao S”. The “Nature S” is a mid-tier model, sitting between the entry-level “Nature SE” and the flagship “Nature PRO”. That’s very good news for those who enjoyed the SE version. I did! The “Nature SE” used a pretty cheap looking standard 4N OFC (oxygen-free copper) cable, while the “Dao S” features a custom 6N OCC (single-crystal copper) cable with a thick silver plating. According to the maker, the cable alone costs more to produce than the entire retail price of the “Dao SE”.
The upgraded cable is designed to better unlock the driver’s potential, specifically improving resolution, micro-micro-dynamics, high-frequency extension, overtones (harmonics), and soundstage reproduction.
To complement the new cable, the driver unit was also fine-tuned, resulting in +2 dB increase in sensitivity and a +5% improvement in high-frequency extension.
Despite the significantly higher production cost, the “Nature S” is priced at a competitive 390 RMB (~ USD 60), following the brand’s “micro-profit” philosophy.
