OAK Audio has officially released the top-tier flagship of its Nature/Dao series: the Nature PRO (also known as the Dao PRO). Positioned above the Nature SE (Special Edition) and the planned Nature S (Standard) models, the PRO represents an uncompromising “cost-no-object” dynamic driver flathead earbud. Nature PRO is currently priced at CN ¥980 which translates to $145 / €125.
After having tried the Nature SE, which I genuinely loved, I’ve been looking forward to this release very much. Nature SE received many praises and have been unofficially crowned as the current best set for under $70.
While Nature PRO shares the same high-density ebony wood housing and 9-port acoustic structure as the Nature SE, the PRO commands a price tag roughly six times higher. This substantial price jump is driven by a completely new bio-diaphragm driver, luxury-grade gold-plated 7N OCC cabling, custom silver solder, and a refined sound signature engineered for demanding audiophiles.
Sound Signature & Sonic Profile
According OAK Audio it adheres to a tuning philosophy described as “relaxed, lush, vibrant, and effortlessly delicate.” The overall sound of the Nature PRO is well-balanced with a touch of organic warmth:
- Soundstage & Imaging: The acoustic chamber generates an impressively expansive soundstage. When playing large-scale orchestral tracks, the staging can stretch as wide as the listener’s shoulders, accompanied by exceptional depth and height precision.
- Low End: Moderately sized bass response focused on texture, speed, and sub-bass extension rather than overwhelming boominess.
- Midrange: Slightly forward and rich, giving vocals a textured quality without sounding boxy or unnatural.
- Highs: Excellent extension with abundant air and overtones. The gold-plated OCC wire infuses the top end with a smooth, luxurious tone that OAK Audio poetically compares to the texture of “silky almond tofu.”
- Foam Calibration: The baseline sound profile is explicitly tuned around donut foam covers. Users preferring a warmer, thicker midrange or pairing with cold sources can swap to solid foams, while warm-sounding sources can even be paired with bare earbuds.
Ebony shells & 9-Port Acoustic Architecture

The Nature PRO utilizes natural, high-density ebony wood—a material known for its extreme density, rigidity, and natural resonance damping.
The physical housing retains the proven 9-port acoustic port design seen in the SE version:
- 8 acoustic reflex ports manually drilled around the main earbud body.
- 1 reflex port integrated into the wooden stem handle.
Bespoke 15.4mm Bio-Diaphragm Driver: Low Impedance, Low Sensitivity
While the outer shell remains physically identical to the SE, the core driver is completely new. OAK Audio uses a customised 15.4mm dynamic driver featuring a composite bio-diaphragm.
OAK Audio chose a low-impedance, low-sensitivity (90dB) dynamic driver which demands a capable source with solid current delivery to achieve its full dynamic potential and open soundstage.
Flagship Cable
The custom cable assembly is one of the biggest contributors to the PRO’s cost, with OAK Audio noting that the raw material cost of the cable alone exceeds the total selling price of the base Nature S model.
Key cable parameters:
- Conductor: 4-strand custom braid of 7N OCC single-crystal copper plated with a thick layer of pure gold
- Sheathing: Modified Dow Chemical PVC, selected for high corrosion resistance, flexibility, and near-zero microphonics (stethoscope effect).
- Natural Y-Splitter: To eliminate excess weight and prevent rubbing against clothing, the cable uses a natural split design without a heavy metal slider/splitter.
- Plugs: Solid pure copper gold-plated pins with chrome-plated shells and carbon fiber wrapping (available in 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced).
- Solder: Off-the-shelf solder was deemed insufficient, prompting OAK Audio to formulate a custom silver-infused solder mix to optimize signal transmission.
Strict QC, Double Testing & Lifetime After-Sales Support
To ensure perfect channel balance and unit consistency, every Dao PRO undergoes a two-stage quality assurance process:
- Double Mic Testing: Frequency response measurements are captured before soldering and again after several hours of dynamic burn-in.
- Subjective Listening Test: Every pair is personally auditioned by the lead engineer using test foam covers. Units with perfect measurement graphs but minor subjective sonic flaws are discarded immediately.
Once verified, the lead engineer personally signs the “PRO” Certificate of Conformity.
Lifetime Maintenance & Service Policy:
- 1-Year Warranty: Free repairs for non-human damage within the first year.
- Lifetime Free Re-gluing: If the bond between the driver, wood shell, or stem ever separates, OAK Audio provides free re-gluing services for life.
- Lifetime Damping Maintenance: Because internal acoustic tuning foam/paper naturally degrades over time, OAK Audio recommends replacing it every 10 years and offers free replacement of tuning foam and paper for life (applicable even to second-hand and third-hand owners).
